To All The Tractor Owners In Cyberspace.
I once again have to inform all of you that I will no longer be able to follow this or any other thread on the Jplan site. I started this thread after be prompted by some other collegues to solict your comments on the improvments to the 4000 series tractors. It is apparent that by starting this thread I have opened a Pandora's Box (yet again) And I cannot supply any answers or direction to all of your thoughts and ideas. I have over my career in several John Deere Dealerships held various jobs from Parts Department, CP Service Manager, CP Sales and most currently a position as a CP Sales Manager. I have and will remain loyal and dedicated to the Product I LOVE (JOHN DEERE) It is not only my Livelyhood it is my Passion. I am truely sorry for any mis-dirrection I have caused any of you, my appologies to the web master for the thread and its contents, and my sincere appologies to Deere & CO. for any statements or comments that have been inserted in ERROR. Any response to this post will not warrant a reply. I am truly sorry for my actions, and I have no good explanation for them.

JOHN DEERE DEALER (OXFORD PA)
IN AN EARLIER POST I HAD STATED THAT JOHN DEERE CO HAD A PIP PROGRAM IN EFFECT FOR 4000 SERIES TRACTORS REGARDING FRONT AXLE SCUFFING. AFTER A CONVERSATION WITH THE AUGUSTA PRODUCT MANAGER TODAY HE CORRECTED MY ERRORS.
IT SEEMS THAT DEERE'S OFFICIAL POSITION REGARDING "TURF SCUFFING" IS THAT IT WILL BE HANDLED ON A INDIVIDUAL COMPLAINT BASIS WITH THE CUSTOMER,THE DEALER, AND THE DEERE TERRITORY MANAGER EVALUATING THE TRACTOR'S PERFORMANCE AND THE "SCUFFING ISSUE".
ALSO THE NEW AXLE DESIGN IS ONLY CONCENTRATING ON 4WD UNITS AND WILL NOT EFFECT ANY 2WD UNITS SOLD.
ALSO I HAD STATED THAT DEERE & CO. HAD ANNOUNCED A PIP PROGRAM WHICH I HAVE FOUND OUT IS NOT CORRECT, ONCE AGAIN EACH CASE WILL BE REVEIEWED INDIVIDUALLY.
THE SCUFFING ISSUE IS STILL NOT TIRE SPECIFIC AND EACH CASE WILL BE REVIEWED INDIVIDUALLY, HOWEVER I WILL NOTE THAT (R4) & (R1) TIRES WILL TRADITIONALLY SCUFF TURF AT EXTREME TURNS WHERE AS THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE WITH (R3) DEPENDING ON THE TURF,MOISTURE IN GROUND, AND THE RATE OF TRAVEL (SPEED)

I APPOLOGIZE TO ANY OWNERS,DEALERS,OR JOHN DEERE PERSONNEL AFFECTED BY MY EARLIER POST. IT IS NOT MY NATURE TO REPORT FALSE INFORMATION REGARDING THE PRODUCT OR POSITION OF DEERE & CO.

THIS WILL BE IN EFFECT MY LAST POSTING TO THIS THREAD OR ANY OTHER REGARDING THE SCUFFING ISSUE OR ANY OTHERS CONCERNING DEERE PRODUCT.

4000 series owners with scuffing issues.
News from the John Deere Augusta Factory Focus Meeting (scotty/Dealer/Ox,Pa)
The first thing the Augusta Marketing Director asked me when we met was "How many responses did you get to your post on the scuffing thread?" so for all of you that have heard John Deere does not know ther is a problem or thay are not paying attention to this forum.....They have heard you and the plan is the following: New axles are currently in production and have been since 1/1/00. All JD Dealers that have had customers with a scuffing problem will have access to the retrofit assembly axle in late April00. It will be a complete change out of the existing axle. Oh and the problem all along has been a geometry over sttering problem with the production axle from (Dana). The Engineers I met in Augusta were very open to comments and suggestions....And I can assure you that John Deere is aware of all the issues and are prepared to do what ever each consumer needs done to satisfy any problems. Please if you have a problem with your 4000 series John Deere contact your JD Dealer and ask them to log a case on your behalf....If any of them say it is not possible than e-mail me with your issue, model#,serial#, and date of purchase and I will see that it gets intothe right hands. In closing, knowing this will be read by many people, After seeing the operation first hand in Augusta and meeting the real green people that make it happen every day.....You guys&gals are doing an incredible job.....and there are many,many,many...satisfied customers out there ......
